BACKGROUND OF ST BARNABAS PARISH IN MOOSE JAW
- On March 14th, 2004, several Moose Jaw traditional Anglicans invited Fr. Dennis Dickson to discuss the possibility of celebrating a monthly Prayer Book communion service in Moose Jaw. Fr. Dickson was then Rector of the TAC Church of the Epiphany of Our Lord in Regina.
- The first organizational meeting was held in Moose Jaw on March 17th.
- At a second meeting on April 12th, the organizing group elected Larry Hellings as their chairman and Dianne Hellings as secretary. They formally asked Fr. Dickson if he could celebrate Holy Communion at the Chateau St. Michael chapel on the second Sunday of each month, 10 AM, beginning May 9th.
- After consulting with members of the Epiphany, at later date Fr. Dickson confirmed that the Epiphany was willing to sacrifice one Sunday a month for the benefit of Moose Jaw traditional Anglicans.
- Because the first service on May 9th was very successful, the Moose Jaw organizing committee decided to continue worship services once a month at this location, date and time.
- Parish status was granted on March 7, 2006. In 2008 Fr. Dennis relocated to Moose Jaw and the Church of the Epiphany of Our Lord in Regina closed its doors.
